EUMEPS member FRAGMAT stands at the forefront of recycling initiatives within Southeastern Europe. With its extensive portfolio in thermal insulation, waterproofing, radiant heating, and packaging solutions, the FRAGMAT Group's commitment to the environment is unequivocal. At the heart of this commitment lies its pioneering Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) recycling program, an endeavour that highlights the group's dedication to reducing ecological footprints and fostering a circular economy.

A Milestone in Environmental Care

Since the inauguration of its EPS recycling plant in 2017, FRAGMAT Group has made significant strides in mitigating environmental impacts. This state-of-the-art facility has successfully processed over 1,500 tonnes of EPS waste, demonstrating the group's capacity to tackle pollution and waste management challenges head-on. The impressive figure of recycling more than 360 tonnes of EPS waste in 2021 alone speaks volumes about the effectiveness of the group's recycling efforts. This waste, sourced from diverse sectors including construction, packaging compliance schemes, and public utilities, underscores the comprehensive approach the FRAGMAT Group employs in its environmental initiatives.

Innovative Recycling Processes

The EPS recycling process at FRAGMAT is a testament to innovation and efficiency. By meticulously sorting and processing EPS waste from various origins, the group ensures that every piece of recyclable material is put to good use. The recycling process transforms EPS waste into valuable granules, finding their way into products such as lightweight concrete, insulating renders, and various fillers. Additionally, through an advanced extrusion process, EPS is converted into granules for the manufacturing of a wide range of products, including XPS thermal insulation. This dual-method recycling process not only exemplifies the FRAGMAT Group's technical prowess but also its commitment to resource efficiency and sustainability.

FRAGMAT Group's EPS recycling initiative is a shining example of how environmental responsibility and business can coalesce to create sustainable solutions. By turning waste into resources, the group not only mitigates its environmental impact but also sets a benchmark for the industry. As we look towards a future where sustainability is paramount, the FRAGMAT Group's efforts in EPS recycling serve as a beacon of hope and a call to action for businesses and communities alike. Together, we can forge a path towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious world.
