EUMEPS, together with several European organisations representing the insulation, construction materials and energy renovation sectors, has submitted a joint letter to the European Commission regarding the implementation of the AccelerateEU initiative and the forthcoming catalogue of measures designed to strengthen energy savings and improve overall system efficiency across Europe.

In the letter, the signatories emphasise the importance of treating structural energy demand reduction as a long-term strategic pillar of European energy policy. They underline that intrinsic energy efficiency in buildings — supported through high-performance building envelopes, innovative insulation solutions and coherent renovation strategies — is essential to reducing energy costs, limiting pressure on electricity grids and supporting a resilient, climate-neutral energy system.

The organisations also highlight the need for holistic approaches that combine energy-efficient renovation, clean heating and cooling technologies, digital tools, flexibility solutions and targeted support for vulnerable households. The letter calls on the European Commission to ensure that short-term energy crisis responses remain aligned with the long-term objectives of the European Green Deal and the Clean Industrial Deal.

This joint initiative further underlines the importance of Europe’s construction and renovation ecosystems in delivering sustainable, resource-efficient and durable solutions supported by strong European value chains and local employment.
