Communications & Visibility

This year, EUMEPS reinforced its voice through new campaigns, high-level interviews, and accessible publications. The focus was on clarity, credibility, and connecting the EPS sector to wider societal conversations. From gender inclusion to industrial policy, the association used strategic communication to support its advocacy goals and strengthen its visibility in Brussels and beyond. Key messages were shared across multiple formats (videos, microsites, and publications) ensuring consistency across audiences and platforms.
Raising Visibility Through New Campaigns
In 2025, EUMEPS expanded its communication tools and formats to reach new audiences and reinforce its position across the EPS value chain. Efforts focused on clarity, consistency, and making the association’s work more accessible both internally and externally.
A central initiative was the Women of EUMEPS campaign. Launched at the CIRPLEX Summit in Klagenfurt, it brought together over 20 women from the EPS industry and featured testimonial videos, interviews with members of the EUMEPS Secretariat, and a dedicated microsite. The campaign was supported by a formal meeting with the European Women’s Lobby and received high engagement on social media.

“This campaign was designed not only to recognise the women already contributing to our industry, but also to send a message: that EUMEPS values openness, collaboration, and fairness. Inclusion is not a trend; it is part of how we work.”
Ingrid Morin
Communications Manager
In parallel, EUMEPS co-led the “Priority? Insulation!” campaign alongside PU Europe, EURIMA, and EXIBA. The campaign called for a material-neutral approach to the building envelope, emphasising energy savings and emissions reduction. It generated strong engagement among regulators and industry stakeholders.
Connecting with European Industry Leaders
As part of EUMEPS’s efforts to highlight key voices shaping Europe’s circular economy, Communications Manager Ingrid Morin conducted a video interview with Virginia Janssens, Managing Director of Plastics Europe. The interview was recorded at the Plastics Europe headquarters and focused on the roadmap launched in 2023, which outlines the industry’s ambition to reach 65% circular plastics by 2050 and progress towards a net-zero emissions system.
Virginia Janssens emphasised the urgency of implementation and the need for an enabling framework to support mechanical and chemical recycling, as well as reuse. She stressed that the 2030 intermediate targets must guide both industry and policymakers, and highlighted that circularity cannot be achieved without addressing competitiveness concerns, particularly high energy prices and administrative complexity.
The interview is part of a broader effort by EUMEPS to connect technical expertise with institutional dialogue and to promote the role of EPS in Europe’s sustainable transition. By facilitating these high-level exchanges, the association strengthens its role as a credible and constructive partner in Brussels-based policy discussions.
Communicating Membership Value
In 2025, EUMEPS launched EUMEPS Talks, a video series featuring the Secretariat team. Aimed at current and prospective members, the series explains the practical value of EUMEPS membership through real conversations, focusing on advocacy, technical expertise, and day-to-day support.
EUMEPS also introduced The EUMEPS Minute, a short members-only newsletter designed to provide timely updates on policy developments, events, and strategic priorities.
As part of its digital expansion, the association opened new communication channels on Instagram, Mastodon, and Bluesky, complementing its LinkedIn presence and making its content more accessible to a wider, non-Brussels-based audience.
Key Publications Supporting Advocacy and Engagement

In 2025, EUMEPS deepened its strategic communication efforts by publishing two flagship documents designed to support political outreach, stakeholder dialogue, and public visibility. These publications were developed in collaboration with European policymakers, industry leaders, association partners and civil society representatives. Each focused on a key priority area for the EPS industry: gender inclusion and leadership, and industrial competitiveness in the context of climate neutrality.

These publications form part of the new series, initiated by EUMEPS to present credible, cross-sector insights through a combination of industry, society, and political perspectives. They were released in parallel to major advocacy campaigns and institutional engagements.
Women in the EPS Industry: Advancing Inclusion, Skills and Innovation in Europe (June 2025)

This publication accompanied the launch of the “Women of EUMEPS” campaign and marked a first for the association: a structured, public-facing document dedicated to the visibility of women working across the EPS value chain. The report showcased the diversity of profiles, expertise, and leadership styles within the sector, ranging from research and technical innovation to sustainability, plant management, and public affairs.
The publication featured voices from the European Parliament, civil society, and the industry itself. MEP Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz lent her support to the initiative, underlining the importance of visibility and access for women in technical and industrial roles. The publication also included contributions from Mary Collins (European Women’s Lobby), Miriam Olivi (Women Plastics Italy), and Verena Reichenecker (Storopack), among others, each highlighting a different dimension of progress:

“It is crucial that we work with industries such as yours to engage in dialogue to approach climate and environmental issues from a gender equality perspective across the spectrum.”
Mary Collins
Secretary General, European Women’s Lobby

“I strongly believe that increasing the visibility and involvement of women helps shift perceptions and inspires a new generation to join this dynamic sector.”
Miriam Olivi
President, Women Plastics Italy

“At Storopack, we have always stood by one principle: we hire the best person for the job. But living up to that principle requires more than good intentions; it demands ongoing reflection and active monitoring of whether this mindset is truly embedded in the company culture.”
Verena Reichenecker,
CEO & President Molding Division, Storopack
Released in October, the publication served as both a communication tool and a policy signal, reinforcing EUMEPS’s values of openness, cooperation, and inclusion, and opening the door to sustained engagement in 2026.
Publication on the Clean Industrial Deal
In November 2025, EUMEPS published the second edition of its Publication Series, focusing on the Clean Industrial Deal and Europe’s industrial competitiveness. The document builds on EUMEPS’s official position paper from April 2025, highlighting the role of expanded polystyrene (EPS) in energy efficiency, circularity, and construction innovation. It outlines the policy conditions needed to support EPS as a strategic material in the transition towards climate neutrality, including access to clean energy, anti-dumping measures, and support for innovation in recycling technologies.
The publication received the support of MEP Marion Walsmann, who emphasised the importance of aligning industrial growth and climate objectives:
“The Clean Industrial Deal represents a vital opportunity to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness while advancing our transition to climate neutrality. These should not be seen as opposing forces, but as two interlocking gears driving Europe’s future prosperity. EPS — known in Germany as Styropor — can play an important role by providing energy-efficient and affordable housing solutions. To make Europe’s transformation achievable for all, we need constructive cooperation between institutions, businesses, and citizens.”

This publication complements EUMEPS’s participation in the Clean Industrial Deal Summit in Antwerp and is part of the association’s broader commitment to supporting a sustainable and competitive future for European industry.
Technical and Policy Publications
  • LCA on EPS Fish Boxes, with RDC and partners, highlighting EPS performance in cold chain seafood transport.
  • Comparative LCA on protective packaging, co-published with NEPSA and TNO, confirming EPS as the most efficient packaging solution in logistics.
  • Fire Safety Guidance on PV Panel Integration, based on large-scale tests and developed with IVH, DBI, and KIWA.
  • REACH Microplastics Technical Guidance, helping members navigate reporting and mitigation obligations.
  • Joint Industry Statement on Energy Efficiency, co-signed by EUMEPS, calling for policy stability and accessible funding mechanisms.
These publications reflect the association’s commitment to technical rigour and fact-based dialogue with regulators, partners, and the wider public.
