“Put your heart into your work”
Sabine is technology and environment officer at the Industrial Association for Rigid Foamand she accept to be
interviewed to share her experiences in the EPS world.
Work and responsibilities
“I am the technology and environment officer at the Industrial Association for Rigid Foam whose members produce
EPS insulation materials for buildings. As a graduate civil engineer, I have worked in many fields. From project
development to construction management and project control, I was able to gain a lot of practical experience
before I changed to the insulation industry more than 16 years ago. For about a year and a half now, I have been
working in the field of EPS insulation materials and am able to contribute my experience and knowledge to the
industry. Whether projects, training, inquiries from planners and authorities or participation in
standardization – the tasks are very diverse and interesting..”
Biggest challenges and achievements in her career
“I didn't really plan my career. After all, I always wanted a family too, and I wasn't sure if the two would
work together. But it does work, today I am the mother of three children, some of whom have grown up, I have a
loving, understanding husband, a house and a job that I enjoy and that brings me a lot of variety. It was always
very important to me that I stand behind what I do and that I can fully commit to it. Only if you are
enthusiastic about something and put your whole heart into it, you will be happy and satisfied in the long run.”
A word of advice
“If you are looking for interesting and varied tasks, enjoy learning and have an interest in technology and a
little chemistry, and also enjoy meeting interesting people, then the EPS industry is the right place for you.
Don't be afraid to work in a male-dominated environment, otherwise it will remain just that. Trust your
abilities, take responsibility and put your heart into your work.”
